Midjourney’s First Acquisition

As a kid, all I wanted was a cool-place to work on cool-projects with cool-people. Projects to help people and push the world towards beauty, awe, and splendor. 

As an adult I find myself in the unusual position of having everything I wanted and two questions come to mind next: How can I use this opportunity to make baby David proud? And what the heck did Baby David know anyway?

The answer will look like the slow blossoming of a very unusual research lab. The beginning of which you’re starting to see with Midjourney Medical. The maturation will look like the announcement of half a dozen similarly ambitious projects over the next 6 months.

Frankly, it’s exciting, and scary, and the only thing I know for sure is I’m gonna need help. 

So this is why we’re announcing our first acquisition today which is: Co–Star. 

I first met Banu, the founder of Co–Star, a little over 5 years ago as I was thinking about the ways people reflect and make decisions both in the present, future, and over the past thousands of years. 

Over half a decade we began to talk quite frequently, often several hours a week! I respect her insights immensely and am excited to have an opportunity to have her and her amazing team join Midjourney to help build a broader organization around Product and Design. 

Co–Star itself is a wonderful project, and it will remain entirely under Banu’s control and direction. But now she will have radically expanded resources and teams to help us going forward on all of our projects.

Welcome Banu and her team to Midjourney! We’ve got a lot to do.
