Patchwork Research Preview

Hi all! Today we’re launching a research preview of a new worldbuilding tool: Patchwork.

Patchwork is a collaborative, AI-supported infinite canvas for creating fictional worlds. It can help you go from vague story ideas to more complete ones; collaborate with other people to build a coherent setting together; and even assemble weird, collage-y visual stories from little scraps of images and text.

In the future, we plan for the characters, worlds, and other materials you create in Patchwork to be importable to other storytelling apps. This might let you bring your characters to life in interactive stories; gesturally act out story scenes between them to guide story text generation; revise story text in new LLM-based interfaces for creative writing; and more.

You can try Patchwork out at patchwork.midjourney.com. We’ve seeded the Patchwork multiverse with a few example worlds that might give you some inspiration for creations of your own.

Remember, this is a research preview, so there will be some rough edges as we roll it out! You'll need to have a Midjourney account, and to log in with Google. If you've always logged in with Discord, make sure to link your active Discord account with a Google account on your Manage Profile page.
